Shelter Dogs in Paradise

Shelter Dogs in Paradise

One silver lining of the pandemic is that animal shelters across the United States are emptying out, as people seek companionship while nesting at home. To encourage more dog adoptions and provide design inspiration for those who’ve already found a furry friend, we created a lookbook starring 5 pups from the Palm Springs Animal ShelterSet among the idyllic mid-century neighborhood of Canyon View Estates and the recently opened pet friendly boutique hotel, Les Cactus, the lookbook perfectly captures dogs enjoying a much deserved weekend in paradise.

For the month of August and September, a percentage of Laylo’s sales from our newest terrazzo collection will be donated to the shelter to help subsidize budget reductions that they continue to face due to the pandemic.

Read on to meet these sweet pups who have all recently found their forever homes.

"We often watch pets enter Palm Springs Animal Shelter on what is surely one of their worst days. As we watch potential adopters searching for that special pup to help level out the uneasy feelings they are experiencing and seeing them exit into a new life together is priceless. We are so thankful to all those who have opened their homes to our homeless pets during what has been uneasy times for all."
– Catie Voglio, Marketing Specialist at Palm Springs Animal Shelter

Designed by Dan Palmer and William Krisel in 1962, Canyon View Estates is a lifestyle condominium nestled in Palm Springs. With 360 degree views of San Jacinto Mountains and a true neighborhood feel, the complex represents easy, breezy carefree living at its finest.

Meet Katara, a strong mama.

Katara was a recent mamma dog who was surrendered to PSAS with her two puppies. Her days of unplanned litters are now over and she has found an amazing new home with a sweet couple. Her babies are growing big and strong in our amazing foster homes and will be available for adoption once they are spayed and neutered.

Meet Jose, a 3-legged ball of energy.

Jose came into PSAS already missing one of his front legs. Despite his missing limb Jose is a get up and go kind of guy who loves to swim in kiddie pools and go for long car rides.

Meet Savanna, a gentle senior.

Savanna is a gentle shepherd mix who arrived to PSAS with a myriad of health issues. Savanna needed extensive dental work including many extractions. The shelter also found mammary tumors that were removed by our veterinarian. Savanna is the perfect example of an amazing dog who now only needs a quiet place to call her own. She would do well with other dogs who are as low energy and easy going as she is.

Meet Coco Bear, a cuddly guy.

Coco Bear has been a resident of PSAS for over 2 years. Coco Bear has been adopted more than once but to no avail they were not the perfect homes for this sweet boy. Coco Bear walks well on a leash and would love to join an owner on long walks, runs, or hikes. Coco Bear would need to be the king of his new castle as the only pup in his home. This cuddly guy knows all his basic commands and then some. He would love an owner who works from home and wants to give hime love and attention all day long.

Meet Michael, a handsome spaniel mix.

Michael was surrendered to PSAS with some medical issues including severe ear infections. We have provided Michael with the medical care he needed as well as a handsome new haircut. He has recently been adopted into a loving home.
